When the self expanding foam comes into contact with the atmosphere, the compressed bubbles expand back to their original state.The company states that its self expanding foam is ten times more effective than water and does not require all the principles of the modern compressed air foam systems on the market to achieve the end result of effectively combating underground fires.Protect O Burn’s foam is premanufactured for all class A, class B, and class K fires, and is also an alcohol resistant aqueous film forming foam in class B applications.Du Plessis says the fire extinguishers are available in 1, 2, 6 and 9 foam units, 25 to 50 trolley extinguishers, 200 and 500 cylinders, and larger 1 000 to 6 000 units.Andrews says that an advantage of using Protect O Burn’s foam is that it provides fire fighters with physical distance away from a fire, owing to the pressure under which it is contained.
